Although the course has no sand traps it plays relativity tuff with the elevation changes and blind approach shots to the greens. There are three holes with fairways lined by dense woods and steep hillsides. Three ponds that may come into play if you get off course. Shadow Ridge became a public play course is in 1992. The 9-hole original plays on over 100 acres along the Grand River in Ionia Township. As you can imagine Donald original layout still plays true to form. As most original Ross courses no water hazards but well hidden deep Scottish pot bunkers come into play.
